Building Transformation achieves ISO 45001 certification

We’re absolutely thrilled to announce we’ve officially been awarded the ISO 45001 certification for Occupational Health and Safety Management.

This is a huge milestone that marks the successful completion of a rigorous journey we embarked on, demonstrating our commitment to building a safer, stronger business.

This isn’t just a win for the management team; it’s a testament to the dedication, teamwork, and active engagement of every person in our company.

ISO 45001 is our third ISO accreditation and further strengthens our commitment to excellence, safety, and continuous improvement.

From Commitment to Certification: The Journey’s Reward

We started this journey knowing that achieving this global standard wasn’t meant to be easy, requiring consistent effort and focused dedication. We embraced the challenge, which involved:

  • Honest reflection to identify where improvements were needed.
  • Thorough review of potential risks across our operations.
  • Implementing new processes to drive positive change.
  • Cultivating true teamwork, understanding, and mutual support throughout the process.

This wasn’t simply an exercise to tick a box and earn a badge; we put the effort in to implement a comprehensive business management system. This framework now guides our operations, helping us to continuously improve and fill any operational gaps.

Donna Birch, Head of Safety & Compliance for Building Transformation, commented:

I am proud to have successfully led the implementation of the ISO 45001:2018 Occupational Health and Safety Management System for Building Transformation.

The journey proved both challenging and deeply rewarding, requiring sustained effort, perseverance, and close attention to detail.  One of the most meaningful milestones for me was cultivating genuine staff engagement and enhancing our safety culture along the way. By fostering open communication, collaboration, and consultation, I was able to build understanding and gain commitment across all levels of the organisation. The system needed to remain practical and easy for our teams to understand and apply, while still effectively controlling risks and maintaining the highest safety standards.

After months of dedication, our collective efforts were rewarded with successful certification – a true reflection of the company’s genuine commitment to health, safety, and well-being. This achievement was not driven by audit requirements, but by a shared desire to continuously improve and embed safer working practices for everyone.

Ali Henshaw from Blackmores, our implementation partner, added:

“It was a pleasure working with Building Transformation, Donna & the team were fully engaged with the process and open to ideas and suggestions. Her existing knowledge of their ISO9001 & ISO14001 systems alongside her commitment to health & safety ensured that the implementation & integration of ISO45001 into Building Transformations management system not only met the requirements of the standards but also of the business.”

Why This Matters to Our Team and Our Clients

Achieving ISO 45001 certification is the ultimate proof that safety and health are at the heart of our business strategy and a foundation of continuous improvement.

Benefits for Our Team

The standard provides the structure to ensure we prioritise the safety and well-being of everyone involved. By aligning our management practices with the ISO 45001 framework, we’ve made personal performance monitoring and objective-setting more straightforward. More importantly, this success confirms that we are all on the same page, moving forward together as a unified team toward a safer future.

Benefits for Our Clients

For our customers, this certification translates directly into the results we promised when we first announced this initiative:

  • Greater security and stability in our operations.
  • More predictable business outcomes thanks to our robust systems.
  • Enhanced customer retention through safer, higher-quality service delivery.

This global accreditation demonstrates that we have the right processes in place to deliver exceptional service while maintaining the highest international standards for occupational health and safety.

The Road Ahead: Continuous Improvement

While we take a moment to celebrate this incredible accomplishment, we know the journey doesn’t end here. Continuous improvement is a core principle of this standard, and we will continue to build upon this success.

Donna Birch, Head of Safety and Compliance at Building Transformation, continues to lead the utilisation and development of this crucial system. Moving forward, we’ll continue to foster a culture of transparency, ensuring everyone understands why certain information is required and how it connects to our ISO 45001 system to drive safety and service excellence.

Once again, a massive thank you to our incredible team! Your help, support, and engagement were the critical ingredients in making this implementation a success.
